How to stay on the right path?

The Prophet (peace be upon him):

“ Stand on the right path, though you won't be able to get there completely, and know that the best of your actions is prayer. (Reported by Ibn Majah. Deemed authentic by Al-Albani.)

Imam Ibn Taymiyyah said:

"The right path is the opposite of deviance, while guidance is the opposite of error. The term "right path" refers to acts that benefit their author, while the term "deviance" refers to acts that harm. It is for this reason that doing good is considered righteousness and doing evil is considered deviance. Because of this, Al-Zamakhshari said: "According to the Arabs, all evil is deviance and all good is righteousness.
